In his first game in Eaton, Zac Lemon, Eaton High School’s new head football coach chalked up a 42-point deficit victory against the Bennett Tigers on Friday, Aug. 29. The Reds beat the formerly eighth ranked Bennett Tigers 48-6 in what wide receiver Darren Troudt (15) said was, “a great start to my first senior game.”Troudt also said it was definitely “something to remember.”
Troudt scored the first touchdown of the game with an 80-yard catch from quarterback Gavin Ledall (15) toward the end of the first quarter. Troudt said, it was great to be back under the Eaton lights in the newly rebuilt stadium. He said, “All summer I prepared and just wanted to be the best on the field. From day one Coach Lemon preached about teamwork and that’s what we were missing last year.” Troudt said that he and the other team members played together well. “But,” he said, “I’m still not satisfied until we play Thanksgiving weekend for the state championship.”
Dalton Waln (16), also a key player in Eaton’s offensive game, scored two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter. Waln said, “The game was a good game to start the season off. Saw what we could do as a team and saw what we need to improve.”
