At EHS, students are known for having a diverse variety of interests as a student body. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that when activities for summer come about, students take the opportunity to enjoy the three months they have off. When summer concerts roll around, EHS students enjoy a variety of genres and artists. From concerts happening at the Greeley Stampede and Cheyenne Frontier days, to concerts at different venues all over Colorado, EHS students have become accustomed to a very beloved summer concert season. Not only do EHS students enjoy going to these events, they also take pride in sharing the joy it brought to them.
One of the shared memories students at EHS have is going to summer concerts. Trinity Salberg (26) said, “My favorite concert I went to this summer was Thomas Rhett because he was a great performer, and it poured rain which made it really enjoyable and memorable.” Salberg attended this concert at Cheyenne Frontier days and shared this experience with many of her friends. Aya Kinoshita (26) also attended this concert and said, “Summer concerts are one of the many things I look forward to during my summer break and I love how much of the Eaton community I see. It makes me realize how I have some of the same interests as my peers.” Kinoshita enjoys being able to see her classmates in a different element than the classroom. Additionally, it makes the experience of concerts so much more special because she got to see people she hadn’t seen all summer and interact with them in a different way.
Learning about students at EHS’ summer activities showed many similarities between the interests of the student body. Although concerts are popular among the student body, that doesn’t mean the genre of music they enjoy is the same. Austyn Trujillo (26) attended the TI concert at the Greeley Stampede, which is a change of pace from the country concerts that many of the other students attended.” Trujillo said, “This concert was so much fun, and I enjoyed listening to something other than my normal music taste.”
These summer concerts, especially at the Greeley Stampede, not only have attendance of people from EHS, but also students from all over the Weld County area. Friends intermix from a variety of schools and bond over the joy that music brings. Concerts are something that give students a way to enjoy being around people near their age outside of a school setting. A break from school is important for students, and what makes it even more special is the concerts of the summer.
