In Eaton High School, one of the classes that is offered is the enterprise class. The intent of this class is to provide experience in starting and managing a business. It prepares students for the real world. With Mr. Adams as the teacher, this class supports clubs within EHS by making advertisement t-shirts, and stickers. This class has made t-shirts and stickers for clubs like FBLA, FCCLA, and DECA. Enterprise students work together to make supportive advertisements for each club as well as their own. This class is only offered to juniors and seniors of EHS.
This class has been offered to EHS students for multiple years, but very few students have taken advantage of the opportunity, until this year. In order to partake in this class, the student must have already completed either accounting, or one of the marketing classes offered. This year, with more attendance in the class, they have been able to start opening the school store. The space for the store has been in the new building since it opened, but the enterprise class is finally putting it to use with the store.
Raegan Fields (26) has been running the school store during the White 4 period, which is currently the only period it is open. Fields is not in the enterprise class, but is available during the hour to advertise and sell items to students nearby. She said, “There haven’t been enough people in the class to run the store, so I’m happy to take on the role.” Hopefully in the future, the store will be open during the White 3-4 periods.
Since the school store has not been available in years past, it is mostly an unknown resource to the students of EHS. The opening of the store has been advertised in the morning announcements. The store offers many necessities including snacks, drinks, chargers for phones and chromebooks, pencils, and hair ties
Enterprise student, Liam Whalen (26), said, “The money that we earn from the school store will be going towards the enterprise class as a whole. We will use the money for t-shirt printers and other items we need for our creations.”
The school store is an accommodating addition to the school, and offers many necessities for student life. To help support the enterprise class, purchase something from the school store soon.
