A cross-school rivalry gave Eaton (6-11,4-4) the spark of intensity it needed to claim a 21-point victory against the Highland Huskies (5-12, 1-7) on Tuesday, Feb.11. The 63-42 win gave the Reds their largest win deficit for the year. The ‘competition’ ended in a score of 63-42, the Reds gave all they had with 10 of their 14 varsity players putting points up on the scoreboard. Last night also marked senior night for the four seniors on the basketball team that would be playing their last game in the Reds’ home court. The four players wrapping up their careers for the Reds included: Matthias Salazar (14), Landon Koelzer (14), Davis Anders (14), and Jake Nelson (14). Nelson lead the scoring with 13 points, the three seniors that played in last nights game combined for a total 18 points last night.
The Reds next game will be on the road against league rival, Lyons (4-14, 1-7) on Feb.13 it will determine whether Eaton will continue with their current win streak going into their last and final game against the Platte Valley Broncos (11-5, 6-1) on Feb. 19.
