After four hours of continuous questions, results were posted, declaring Eaton had taken 3rd place at the Platte Valley meet this weekend. With a final score of 71, the team came in behind Estes Park and University. Eaton trailed University by seven points at the end of the day. Estes swept the meet with a whopping total of 118 points, making the competition really a battle for second place. Eaton, University, and Platte Valley competed for the second spot throughout the day, switching places in the top room every round.
The initial written round placed Eaton in the second room along with Platte Valley and Sterling. They stayed in the second room for the second round, and finally jumped up to the top room for the third oral round. Though Estes Park dominated the top room in the final round, Eaton still managed to hold on to a third place spot due to Platte Valley’s hard loss in the third round.
The next meet will be Feb. 1 at Frontier Academy.
