Halloween is a time of year that brings out the inner child in all of us. For many staff and students at Eaton High School, picking out a Halloween costume is the most exciting part of the season.
Students were allowed to showcase their creativity by coming to school in their costumes on Tuesday. Witches with pointy hats, superheroes with flowy capes, and other fictional characters roamed the halls. Junior, Ruth Prado dressed as a witch said, “Costumes are the best part of Halloween because it’s exciting to see all the different characters.”
At EHS it wasn’t just the students who stole the show. Teachers joined in on the fun too. Ms. Buntin, the FCS teacher, dressed as a minion, and Mrs. Sorenson, a literature teacher with a love for books, as Katniss Everdeen. The counselors even participated, dressing as aliens.
Although all of the costumes on Tuesday were impressive, no one does it quite like Mrs. Turnbull, one of EHS’ history teachers. Every Halloween, laughter fills the history hallway as Turnbull passes by in her expertly crafted costume. From Benjamin Franklin to Miss Trunchbull, Turnbull’s commitment to embracing the Halloween spirit is truly commendable.
This year Turnbull chose to become the genie from Aladin. She was painted blue head to toe and decked out with lights, a shiny golden vest, and a magical lamp. ¨It’s so much fun to be different and someone that I’m not usually,” said Turnbull. She explains that it’s important to not take yourself so seriously sometimes and just have fun.
