Late last week Zach Bryan was arrested and jailed for several hours. Country singer Bryan was pulled over for speeding in a small Oklahoma town. He was then arrested on a misdemeanor complaint of obstruction of an investigation.
The police officer who pulled over Bryan asked for his license, registration, and address. Being a popular artist, Bryan felt uncomfortable sharing his address with the officer. After refusing to answer the officer, Bryan was then placed in cuffs and in the front seat of the officer’s car. After a few minutes of discussion, Bryan complied and gave the officer his address. The officer let him off with a warning.
Bryan and his security guard began driving towards Boston in separate cars the next day. Along the way his security guard was pulled over by a state officer. Bryan turned around and pulled over to wait for his security officer. While waiting, Bryan got out of the car to check on the situation and smoke a cigarette.
After getting out of his car, the officer immediately told Bryan to get back in his vehicle. The officer and Bryan quickly began arguing. Bryan admits in an online apology video on his social media, “Like a dumba** I said, ‘Take me to f***ing jail? What do you mean?’”
Bryan’s words caused the argument to escalate quickly. The officer put Bryan in cuffs and took him to the local police station, where he was held for several hours. Word of this arrest quickly spread to the internet.
Eaton High School student Sydnee Musgrave (24) said, “I was devastated that he was arrested, but I’m happy about how honorable he was about admitting his wrongs. He handled the situation afterwards really well.”
In Bryan’s apology he admits to being “too lippy” with the officers, and that he could have handled the situations much better. Bryan said, “I ended up apologizing online because I realized my actions didn’t reflect who I was as a person.”
Sophie Morgan (25) said, “I think everybody makes mistakes and he knew that he stepped out of line and apologized for it. It’s just another experience for him to grow and learn from in the future.” Although Bryan made a mistake, he owned up to his actions. This police incident won’t set Bryan back from his life, as he was only charged with obstruction of an investigation.
