Eaton High School has had a busy week before winter break. From a choir concert to Santa Claus passing out candy canes, the week was full of joys for the students at EHS. Students also decided to reach beyond the doors of the high school and give toys to kids using the Toys for Tots program.

Nothing like Christmas music sung by the EHS choir can infuse the Christmas spirit into the audience. Eaton Middle School choir, Women’s choir, Men’s choir, Troubadours, Bella Voce, and all choir classes combined sang Christmas songs Tuesday night, December 18. The concert was a show and dinner with chicken parmesan over noodles supplied by the Eaton High School cafeteria. Tables were set up on the gym floor and were served by the choir classes for a price of 15 dollars a plate. Price, however, did not bother the people because every seat on the gym floor was still occupied by family and friends. The audience who just wanted to hear the choirs sing were able to enter for free and sit in the gym’s bleachers. Some songs coupled instruments and singing together. Band teacher Phuong Nguyen was on the guitar, Mishayla Stephenson (14) played the drums, and Amy Phillips (15) and Hanna Karas (13) both played flutes.

Don’t feel like getting out of your pajamas in the morning before school? Well, Monday, December 17, students lounged comfortably at their desks with their cozy pajamas to kick off spirit week. Joe Stewart (13) among others decided to reveal to everyone that their sleeping attire comprised of just one continuous piece of cloth known as footed pajamas. On ugly sweater day Tuesday, students grabbed their grandparent’s old christmas sweaters, bought a sweater from their local thrift shop, or in Garrett Proctor’s (15) case, made their own sweater. On Wednesday, students got the opportunity to wear a santa hat. The small amount snow that fell the night before and the cold weather, added to the style. That same day, some students received candy canes payed for by other students or staff. They were hand delivered by Santa Claus himself, or Dalton Shoop (13) in disguise, whichever you choose.

The Toys for Tots program at EHS has been an annual tradition to give to the people in need for many years. Assuring they were not stealing, little volunteers packed up all the toys stashed in a teacher office, and they loaded them into a car to be transported after school on Wednesday, December 19.
