Lady Reds takes win against Valley

Reds carry on their winning streak

Eaton girl’s basketball takes another win in the Patriot league. The team faced off against Valley at home on Tuesday, Jan. 17 with a final score of 37-14. 

The Reds played a great game against Valley with 19 steals, 30 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 12 assists. Tayla Wiedeman (24) still leads the team with 170 points and 102 rebounds for the season. Wiedeman says, “We work through everything together and we know what works so we refocus back to the basics and help each other through everything to be successful.” Followed behind Wiedeman is Emily Maske (23) with 117 points and 75 rebounds. Blayke Duncan (23) is one of the point guards for the Reds and takes control of the Red’s plays that they need to run on offense. Duncan has 43 steals, and 46 assists helping her teammates to score for the Reds. “The role I take as a point guard is being able to handle the ball and get things going on offense so we have a good opportunity to score,” says Duncan. Abiah Randel (23) is the other point guard for the Reds and has 41 assists, and 31 steals. 

In the girl’s 4A Patriot League, the Eaton Reds moved up to second right behind the University Bulldogs with an overall ranking of 10-3, while University had an overall ranking of 10-2. There are many outstanding players on the team who lead the team with many different stats. But, they don’t let that get to them when it comes to game time. 

The Reds will face their next opponent, Weld Central on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Weld Central. Followed by that they will face their rivals at home against University on Wednesday, Jan. 25. For weekly updates tune into Eaton Red Ink or NFHS to watch live.
