The 2022 FIFA World Cup officially has wrapped up with Argentina winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup

The 2022 FIFA World Cup has officially wrapped up, and after nearly two months of games, Argentina has surmounted the world and reached the ultimate prize. The 2022 World Cup was like none other. The World Cup was played in the winter for the first time ever, and there was tremendous controversy before the World Cup was kicked off. 

Each game brought the world memories and the beautiful game once again showed its true colors. Qatar was a wonderful host to the World’s game, despite the tremendous amount of controversy.

The game brought the world surprises, as Croatia and many other underdogs showed the world who they were. Records were broken, goals were scored, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will live in infamy. 

The World Cup kicked off on Nov. 20 with Qatar and Ecuador facing off in the opening game. Ecuador beat the hosts 2-0 and the World Cup was in full swing from there. Four matches of the group stage were played every single day from Nov. 20 to Dec. 2. 

The most notable moments from the group stage were Morocco topping their group and sending the Belgians home. The Saudis stunned Messi on Matchday 1. Japan topped their group with Spain, and the Germans were sent home for the second time in a World Cup group stage. The USA famously beat Iran to advance and the hosts Qatar were sent home.

The French broke the World Cup champion’s curse. Uruguay was sent home by South Korea and the Socceroos made history by advancing. The World Cup group stage was full of surprises and upsets.

The knockout stage of the FIFA World cup had plenty of history makers and moments that will never be forgotten. Brazil played against South Korea, but the dancing ended in the qQuarterf-Finals against Luka Modric and the Croatians.

Morocco made history by being the first African nation to make the semi-finals. The USA was eliminated. The small nation of Croatia made the semi-finals for a consecutive World Cup. Lionel Messi and the Argentinians’ dream continued and Portugal’s dreams were crushed. The French continued their dream of back-to-back World Champions.

The semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup were like none other. The Moroccan World Cup dream ended at the hands of the French. Lionel Messi and Argentina advanced past Croatia. In the third-place match, Croatia won 2-1 against Morocco to take third place. Morocco was the first African country to place at a men’s FIFA World Cup.

The World Cup Final had arrived. Argentina matched up against France. The young French star, Kylian Mbpappe against the world’s greatest, Lionel Messi. At halftime, Argentina led 2-0 and it seemed all hope was lost for the French to go back.

In the 80th minute of the match, Mbappe struck two goals in a minute and a half. The game would go into extra time. Lionel Messi scored in the 108th minute, but Kylian Mbappe responded in the 118th minute to send the game into penalties. Argentinian defender Montiel would fire the game-winning penalty to win 4-2 in penalty kicks. Argentina won the World Cup in Qatar for their third year.

The Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup will never be forgotten for many reasons, Alex Shaw (25) said, “This FIFA World Cup was a great one., I really enjoyed it, despite the controversy., I was surprised, I didn’t think this World Cup was going to be entertaining.” The 2022 FIFA World cup will never be forgotten and will be etched into soccer history.
