Gas prices have drivers walking

Drivers paying up to ten percent more in just a week

When only paying upwards of $3, getting to the gas pump wasn’t all that bad The local Sinclair in Eaton is up to a rising $3.90 almost to $4. California was notorious for having outrageous gas prices, now reaching around $6. For students already struggling to hold on to money, paying up to $65 to fill up their vehicle is almost unbearable. Even adults with steady jobs fear the rising prices. Eaton language arts teacher Deirdre White said, “ouch, these prices hurt.” As the weather is getting warmer it isn’t a terrible idea to air up bike tires and choose a different way to get to work/school, for the wallet’s sake.

According to a USA Today article,  “predicts the average cost of a gallon of gas will peak in May at $4.25. Even as prices begin to decline after May, the average is expected to remain over $4 until November.” November is 6 months away as of this article being written. There are 182 days in 6 months which is a long time to be paying for fuel that costs $4.25. In only a couple of months, many people will be cutting the grass, and the lawn mowing companies will be needing gas for their tools, on top of the vehicle they drive, affecting more than just transportation. As of Tuesday 3/11/2022, the average national price for a gallon of regular gasoline touched $4.17, according to AAA, the highest price ever, not accounting for inflation. That was up from $4.07 on Monday and $3.61 from a week earlier. The previous high was $4.11 on July 17, 2008. Just remember to drive only if you need to and take other advancements to save one’s money if applicable. Be sure to plan for the long six months ahead.
