For as small of a team Eaton had, the Lady Reds did amazing at state, placing 14th overall out of 32 teams. Five girls from Eaton competed at state, racking up a total of 93 points, in between Berthoud High School and Kent Denver High School. Caitilin Morgan (23) finished ninth in the Women’s 100 Yard Breaststroke Preliminaries with a time of 01:10.76. In 29th place, Sophie Morgan (25) had a time of 01:16.86, only 20 seconds behind the girl in 28th place. C. Morgan placed eighth in the finals of the Women’s 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 01:10.78. C. Morgan swam the Women’s 200 Yard IM too, with a preliminary time of 02:23.45, placing 14th. Her final time was 02:22.98, placing 14th again. 

The sister duo was also a part of the Women’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, with the team receiving fifth place in the preliminaries, having a time of 01:45.89. This relay team also included Dharma Perkins (25) and Alexis Bruntz (22). In the finals, the team placed eighth, tying with Berthoud High School, with a time of 01:45.75. S. Morgan said, “State was a new experience for me, but overall it was a great way to end my freshman year swim season.” S. Morgan was also in the Women’s 100 Yard Butterfly placing 19th in the preliminaries, with a time of 01:07.47. Her final time was 01:08.45, in 20th place. 

The only senior that qualified for state, Alexis Bruntz (55) also had a great finish. She swam the Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle placing 16th in the preliminaries, with the time of 00:57.37. Her final time was 00:56.55 receiving 15th place. Bruntz was in the Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle as well, placing 13th in the preliminaries, with the time of 00:26.15. Her final time was 00:26.01, again in 13th place. She was also a part of the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay, with C. Morgan, S. Morgan, and Perkins. In the preliminaries, the team placed 11th, with a time of 01:58.32. In the finals, the team placed 11th again, with a time of 01:58.55. “State this year was so much fun. All of us went out there and gave it our all,” Bruntz said. Carlson was both happy and impressed with the girls’ strong finishes. Carlson said, “Our swimmers brought their best and I could not be more proud of these girls.”
