The Reds enter into the postseason
The regular season has finally come to an end for the Reds. The last two matchups for the Reds resulted in losses against the Brush Beetdiggers and Sterling Tigers. With a nail-biting game last Friday, Feb.11 the Reds fell short to Brush in overtime, only losing by one point the final score was 68-69. Leading scorers for the Reds were Mitch Haythorn (24) with 19 points and Walker Martin (23) with 16. Struggling with scoring in the first quarter, where the Reds accumulated just four points. Making a comeback in the second half Haythorn came up with a clutch three-pointer to send the game into overtime. Unfortunately, the Reds fell short of a victory but were looking forward to a road victory on Tuesday night Feb. 15th against the Sterling Tigers. Senior Jaden Stone said, ¨I thought that we played well, but I think later in the game we could´ve been a little cleaner in order to come out on top¨.
Looking forward to the final matchup of the regular season, the Reds prepared for arguably the toughest game of the season, the Sterling Tigers. Falling just short of a win the Reds lost 49-62 on Tuesday evening. Martin led the Reds with 16 points and seven rebounds. Martin said, ¨We started off slow in the first half but we finally started to move the ball better and take better shots. I think when we play them again we will have a good idea of what we need to do the entire game¨.
Progressing to the postseason the boys will play the Estes Park Bobcats on Thursday night Feb. 17th and will have a rematch against the Sterling Tigers on Friday Feb. 18th if they win. To stay updated on the upcoming games, tune into Eaton Red Ink for weekly updates and NFHS to watch the game live.
