Super Bowl Sunday
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 at the 2021 Superbowl.
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa to see who would take home the victory. The stadium wasn’t as full as any normal Superbowl, only 22,000 fans were allowed to watch in person. Of those, 22,000 people, 7,500 people were healthcare workers invited as guests as a thank you for their hard work. The rest of the fans had to watch at home, but there were 30,000 cardboard cutouts to fill some of the other seats. Some of those cardboard cutouts were football state champions from all over the U.S., including Eaton’s state championship team. This Super Bowl is the first time in NFL history that a team has played in their home stadium and on top of that, won the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback for the Chiefs and Tom Brady is the quarterback for the Buccaneers. Brady has gone to the Super Bowl a total of ten times, returning home with seven wins, and won the Super Bowl MVP for the fifth time. Brady and Mahomes faced each other earlier this season on November 29, 2020 the Chiefs beat the Buccaneers 27 to 24. The Super Bowl was a redemption for the Buccaneers, with the final score being 31 to 9. The halftime show was performed by The Weekend, he sang a few of his hits “Starboy”, “The Hills”, “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Earned it,”, “House of Balloons’,” and “Blinding Lights.”
The Super Bowl is entertaining to watch but it is much more fun when it is spent with family. Many families have Super Bowl Sunday traditions. Some of those traditions may include, having family members get together, eat food, play games, and making family friendly bets, Ashley Ortega (23) said, “We usually get our family together and each one of us brings a food dish, and we watch the game and eat together.”
The Super Bowl is a good way to bond as a family. Some families make contests for Super Bowl Sunday, Jaylen Gonzalez (23) said, “ We have a cupcake contest, where we decorate cupcakes with the teams’ colors and whoever wins the contest wins money that was collected at the beginning of the contest.” Super Bowl Sunday can be a fun day to watch football and make bonds with family.
