Boys Basketball defeats the Highland Huskies

The first win for the Reds  is recorded in the book  as they defeated the Highland Huskies 79-65 on Wednesday night. Senior Scott Grable (21) was the leading scorer for the Reds with 26 points in the game, sophomore Walker Martin (23) came in second with 17 points, and senior Gage Butler (21) with 11. With three seniors on the varsity roster Grable, Butler, and Cole Schumacher (21) they are in high hopes of leading the team to the state tournament.

Grable said, “Rebounding and going one and out on defense is something that we could definitely improve on for the next game.” Every game has it’s highlights and Grable said, “I thought that we did well for the first game of the season and I am proud of the boys. Going onto the next game goals have been set for the next game. The boys had a strong game from an offense and defense standpoint as the team had 20 assists, 29 rebounds, and 11 steals. Grable said, “Overall I just want us to play the best basketball that we can every possession.” But as always the job is never done for the Reds. Martin said, “The biggest challenge physically was the masks, but overall I am excited to keep working with the team and overcoming the challenges that COVID has thrown at us.”

The boys will now take on the D’evelyn Jaguars on Friday night at D’evelyn. Tune into the NFHS network to watch the boys play their second game of the season.
