New year new you?
2021 brings a fresh start for people to make new goals for themselves.
Every year on Jan. 1 people set new goals for themselves to make some changes in their lives. These could be health or fitness goals, spiritual, work, family, financial, and many other kinds of goals. Most people say “new year, new me” and try to accomplish their New Year goals and develop them into a lifestyle in order to improve themselves. One thing that challenges people throughout the year is sticking with their New Year’s resolution because oftentimes people quickly stop working towards their goals. Dayana Hernandez (23) said, “My New Year’s resolution is to get better grades and ask questions when I’m confused in class and also to eat healthier. My resolutions are mostly the same as last year but this year I plan on improving on them and not giving up when things get hard. I try to keep reminding myself that I need to work for my things because they won’t come easy.”
Many people set new health goals for themselves, hoping to better themselves. Daniela Rincon (23) said, “My New Year’s resolution is to eat healthy and exercise more. My resolutions aren’t different from last year, so far they have been going great.” People have the mindset that a new year brings new beginnings, not everyone believes this though. Ms. Johnson, a math teacher at EHS, gives her point of view on New Year’s resolutions. She said, ”I didn’t really set a New Year’s resolution. I don’t really believe in New Year’s resolutions because I think that at any point in your life you can make the changes that you want to. I am trying to use the new year and the new classroom especially to have a more positive outlook on life, because I have really struggled a lot last semester.” 2020 was a tough year for many people, so many people are trying to use 2021 to collect themselves and get themselves on track to make them happier, and in some cases, healthier.
