Car accident results in local tragedy
EHS student dies in a car accident on Highway 85 on September 11
EHS junior Abigail Silva passed away on September 11 after a fatal car accident which resulted in two deaths and one injury. Silva and her father collided with another vehicle on Highway 85 after school on Friday. The school opened its doors the next day, on September 12, to allow students to come together to mourn this great loss. While supporting each other, the students wrote notes and condolences to the family.
Silva was known throughout the school for her brightening smile and beautiful soul. Her kindness was radiating and will be missed greatly. During this difficult time, it is important for the community to stick together and support each other. Principal Rick Kaufman would like students to report to their advising classes first thing on Monday and Tuesday morning to allow students and staff to process this loss together. There also will be counselors and clergy present at the school on Monday for the students who need them.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Silva and her father’s funeral expenses. Click here to visit the page.
