Hopes are high for this weekends Bronco game against the Patriots. Eaton High school contains students and teachers who believe we are witnessing this years Super Bowl Champion play through the playoffs every time they see Tim Tebow on their TV screens. Other students and teachers think that Tebow is this years “football fad” and has not proven himself as a worthy NFL starting quarterback, which means the Broncos should be looking to sign a new one. Worthy or not, Tebow has led the Broncos to the playoffs and won their first playoff game. Now the Broncos have to play the number-one seed Patriots.
The Patriots are favored by 13 and-a-half points in the match-up against the Broncos. Experts believe that this will be the end of the Broncos impressive run, but Eaton High School teacher and avid Bronco fan Amy Irwin thinks otherwise. “Broncos are going to win”, Irwin said when asked about what the outcome of the game would be. She continued to say, “The Broncos are playing like a team. When they play as a team, they can do anything. In the past they haven’t played as a team.” Playing as a team may not be able to help them beat the Patriots, but a quick scoring offense and tough defense will.
The question is will Tebow be able to perform as he did against the Steelers. Business teacher Chris Love doesn’t think so. Love said, “Tebow is getting good experience, but ultimately the Patriots are built for the playoffs. The defense is going to have to play well because we just don’t have enough fire power.” If the Broncos continue to follow their “We Believe” motto and their defense steps up, they could potentially make it past the Patriots into the AFC championship game.
The problem is going to be keeping pace with the high-powered Patriots offense led by quarterback Tom Brady. Hayden Johnson (12) has little hope for the Broncos. He said, “ The Broncos won’t be able to keep up with Brady. I think the Patriots are going to win.” Whether or not the Broncos are able to keep up with Brady will depend on the play of Tebow. This game is the biggest game for the Broncos in the past seven years and the fans are ready to watch them win.
