Senior posts bitter-sweet end-of-year video

As the 2020 school year comes to a close online, many seniors are left with disappointment and are looking to find positivity as they graduate.  Esmeralda Valdez (20) created a youtube video to celebrate her classmates as the school year comes to a close.

Valdez decided at the beginning of the year to make a youtube video after filming parts of senior registration.  Over the school year, Valdez was able to capture memories from sporting events, assemblies, powder puff, parades, and hanging out with friends.

Before the pandemic, she was hoping to record Class Day, senior pranks, ditch day, graduation, and other moments that were lost for the class of 2020.

Valdez wanted to reach out to students through her video. “I want the impact to be that all students should appreciate all the amazing memories they create through high school because before you know it, you’ll be saying goodbye to a wonderful chapter in your life,” Valdez said.

Senior year is supposed to be fun and full of memories, but for the class of 2020, senior year was cut short.  “I am very sad that my senior year had to end so early and unexpectedly,” she said. “It’s a sad thing because your whole school career you look up to graduating and having those last moments with your friends and classmates before we all go into our different paths.  Having that taken away from you without anything you can do about it really sucks..”

For the class of 2020, senior year has been bittersweet, but will never be forgotten – especially thanks to Valdez capturing the moments and memories the seniors experienced before the quarantine.
