Unplanned unveils tough topics
Following it’s controversial release, “Unplanned” has ranked higher in the box office than Dumbo and Captain Marvel each. “Unplanned” is a film by Pure Flix that is sparking conversation among both sides of the abortion spectrum. The movie follows the life changing events of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director. Abby worked her way up from a volunteer to the youngest Planned Parenthood director in the system.
Abby’s journey has led her to become a pro-life activist. She created her own organization “And Then There Were None” which has helped over 500 abortion workers safely leave the industry and find new jobs. “Unplanned” was released on Friday, March 29, in the midst of the “40 Days For Life” project. “40 Days For Life” is a movement featured in the film that begins March 6 and ends April 14 each year.
Abby Johnson comes to her epiphany when she steps into the procedure room for the first time in her 8 years of working at Planned Parenthood. She witnesses the violent truth of abortion in the ultrasound guided procedure. The MPAA rated the film “R” due to its violent nature. The film rightfully deserves that rating as abortion is not a lighthearted topic. I highly recommend this movie for anyone currently in high school and on any side of the abortion spectrum.
