In the bottom of the fourth inning Bryce Leafgren (20) hit a home run, the first one of the season, with Dalton Logan on second base, scoring two points for the Reds. Leafgren tells how he felt about it and says, “It felt pretty good because it was the first one of the season, so that’s pretty exciting.” When asking him also about what he thinks the season is going to look like Leafgren said, “I think we have some work to do still, but I think in the end of it we could be a state team.” The boys were very excited about the win because in the pre-season predictions Faith Christian was number 4 and the Reds being ranked 8. Todd Hernandez, the head coach, said, “after our loss yesterday, this was a good way to come back, it’s always good to get the first good game in at the beginning of the season.” With it being the beginning of the season Hernandez has an open mind about the rest of the season, “I think we have a lot of potential and I think if we come focused and we do things in the way we’re supposed to be, we’ll be just fine.” With Hernandez being very optimistic about the season, the boys are feeling ready for more games to come.
