Although the game was a win for the Reds it was the events before the game that were truly significant to the Reds players. Reds honored their senior team members; Mason Willadsen, Cody Kessel, Harrison Zeller, and Dallas Duran. Family members of each of the seniors brought them flowers and presents while they stood on the court and their names were read aloud.
When Duran’s name was read family members entered the court with a plaque of his jersey. Duran’s mother chose to speak, making a speech thanking the team for honoring Dallas’ memory. Coach Dean Grable spoke about honoring Duran, saying “Two years ago was a tough time for our team, it was a special night with his family all there. And we will continue to honor him throughout the year.” After the seniors were honored Duran’s name was read along with the rest of the starting lineup and only four players entered the court for tip off, leaving a space for their teammate.
Seniors Caitlin Frank and Grace Walker were honored as manager. Frank commented on honoring Dallas, saying, “It was very emotional starting him on the court as a senior, but the team has always been good.about not forgetting Dallas and remembering him as part of the team.”
