Girl’s basketball win against Strasburg
After a tough loss on Saturday to Colorado Academy, the Reds were able to redeem themselves with a win against Strasburg and a final score of 48-42. The first Patriot League game for the Reds pushed them to a 7-2 overall record and a league record of 1-0. Strasburg is now 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Eaton separated itself from frequent slow first quarters by executing offenses effectively.The Reds scored double-digit quarters for the whole game, and held the Indians to only 5 points in the first quarter. Strasburg only managed to out-score Eaton in the fourth quarter by one point, 17-16.
According to Maxpreps, Brynn Millett (17) was the lead scorer for the Reds with 14 points, including a team-high five steals. Millett scored three of her seven three-point shots, earning her a percentage of 43. Millett said, “Offensively, we came together. We were able to work inside-out which allowed us to find guards and others who were open to get good looks.” Point guard Courtney Leafgren (17) contributed 8 points along with guard Allie Hobbs (19). Bailie Duncan (19) bagged 5 points, and Jayde Contreras (17) contributed 4 to the team. Alexis Lamoreaux (18) matched Contreras with 6 rebounds. Eaton had four more turnovers than the Indians with 29, but the team made up for it with a defense that frequently utilized full-court pressure. Strasburg player Kindrey Rinnow (18) was the game-high scorer with 13 points. Abbi Lowell (17) nabbed 11 points and 4 steals.
Up next for the Reds is an away game against the Frontier Wolverines, who are 2-6 overall on Friday 13. On average, Eaton scores 47.6 points per game, while Frontier scores 21.4 per game, according to Maxpreps.
