The EHS Choir belted out a fantastic show last Tuesday on Oct. 25. Women’s Choir excited and amused the crowd on a positive note, singing Joyful, Joyful. They then moved into Oseh Shalom, which was sung with delicate beauty. The Pink Panther was another story. Amanda Pennington rocked the piano as a guest accompanist, and the rest of the choir followed suit.
The night was still young when Men’s Choir took the stage, kicking their performance off with a rendition of I’m Bound Away. Jordan Stromberger, Trevor Foos, Caleb Johnson, and Trevor Ashe all aced their solos before moving on to Star of the Country Down. Estin McGraw, David Jones, and Matthew Suddeth all performed solos during the song, and Kelly Ferrari-Mills accompanied on the flute. Men’s Choir continued the show with Wakati wa Amani, and appeared to enjoy themselves much on the stage, clapping and stomping around for the first time in the show. Justin Hunteman provided epic tribal drumming to finish out the performance.
Bella Voce then took the stage, singing Je le vous dirai!, The Last Blue Rose, and Ascribe to the Lord. Bella Voce could be heard round the auditorium, despite some serious technical issues with the mics. And then, on came the Troubadours to sing outstanding renditions of River of Imagination, Ritmo, and Blue Skies. The audience was left stunned as these top-singers were at their best Tuesday night.
Women’s Choir returned to sing the enthusiastic and colorful (literally and metaphorically) ABC. Men’s Choir came on for one last song, Wild Things II. Let’s just say, the performance was befitting to the Choir. A bunch of high schools boys dancing around the stage like ‘wild things,’ one can imagine. Bella Voce then sent their voices dancing around the crowd with Dancing Queen. Troubadors also danced around the stage, literally. They paired up for a rendition of Happy Together. Melanie Mackey and McKyler Korth took center stage to sing their duet.
All Choirs ended with a rendition of Shine a Little Light. Brianna Devore and Teesha Prichard left the crowd with a note to think about, each performing the final solos of the night. Overall, Christina Contreras and her singers delivered a show that stunned, which was unsurprising. They always rock the house.
