Pictured is the 1980 Eaton High School varsity boy’s basketball team. With basketball season starting, I figured this was fitting. In 1980 the team only won three games all season, but that is not important. What is important is that they still wore Eaton’s colors proudly, and that is what our teams must do in their upcoming season.
Our teams should strive for victory, but in the end it is about having fun, learning teamwork, building relationships, and representing Eaton High School. We need to look into the past to see what we can do about the present and future. In the past, the team celebrated their victories and didn’t really dwell on their losses.
The 1980 team fought in every game, even though their record didn’t show it. They had a desire to win everyday and I think that is important to learn going into this basketball season. It is not about the score, it is about the heart and effort put into every single game.
