For the Eaton Fightin’ Reds 2015 Varsity Football team it is’s about so much more than a game. For 39 high school boys taking the field every Friday night it is about a brotherhood. “Do it because you have a love for the game. And do it because you are willing to make a sacrifice and take the hit for your brother standing next you,” said Colton Ingram (16) in his speech to the team Thursday night. Players have all made a huge commitment to the team and have all shown extreme dedication since day one. On June 1st the team reported to the weight room for training at 5:45 am twice a week in addition to every day regular season practices. After hours spent watching film, in the meeting room, strategizing and creating plays every week the team takes the field on Friday nights to battle it out as a brotherhood. “We take the field together, kill ourselves in practice, and work our butts off day in and day out. But, all of that means nothing if we don’t come together as a family and have each other’s back,” Lucas Halferty (16) tells the team. Every game is a battle that the team goes into together while modeling their standard of CREDIT. This standard encompasses the values commitment, respect, effort, discipline, integrity, and toughness. The game is about more than football. It i’s about developing and growing as a person, building relationships, and trusting your teammates. The game is a platform to practice these values and move forward together. Day after day every player shows up to practice with the heart to win and battle for their brothers. After every game the team chants together “One, two, three, Reds! Four, five, six, Brothers!”
