It’s Friday morning, April 13, 2029, and what may seem like a normal day ends up being the end of the world. As you look to the sky, a giant ball of various chemicals, earth and non-earth materials burn a hole in the atmosphere. As a last ditch effort for life, you take a gasp of air seeing every pointless detail of a life, which used to seem so meaningful, pass before your eyes. With one giant explosion, equal to a thousand nuclear bombs or a fire so hot every one would be annihilated in seconds with shock waves so powerful it would knock the breath out of everyone. Life as it is known to man would end.
In the year 2029 an asteroid, known by astrologists as 2004 MN4, will come strikingly close to piercing the skin of earth. At first, many astrologists thought that 2004 MN4 would come in contact with earth which would be hard to grasp. But after further analysis, scholars of Asteroid 2004 MN4 know that this asteroid will not hit earth. This unearthly rock will only fly only 18,600 miles above ground, which is closer then geosynchronous satellites which orbit at 22,300 miles above the ground. According to the NASA website, the asteroid is about 320 meters wide and would punch a hole in the earth the size of Texas. Astrologists that study the fascinating Asteroid 2004 MN4 are not sure what the projection of its orbit is going to be once it passes earth. Some say it will collide with earth in 2035. Others say that it is hard to judge the orbit of the asteroid with such little knowledge. Life in Eaton will at least be safe until 2035 where the fate of life on earth will be in unearthly hands. Surprisingly, not very many people know about this asteroid. Joe Stewart (13) and Jasmine Inda (14) both admitted to having no knowledge about the asteroid. Earth science teacher Erin Pierson said, “I look forward to viewing the asteroid if it will be visible.” It is highly unlikely though that it will be visible to Americans because it will pass by Africa, Europe, and Asia. If this astonishing asteroid were to hit earth, Inda said she would spend her last day “In Hawaii on a beach swimming with a dolphin.”
